Say hello to Landon,
a 3D Artist here at Dart Frog.

When he’s not creating things in the virtual world, you’ll find him cooking, reading, or playing video games (a requirement, he says, for 3D artists). His cat, Scout, is always close by on work-from-home days.

How long have you been with Dart Frog?

I think four or five years. I’ve enjoyed it so much that I haven’t really been keeping track!

What’s a typical workday like for you?

My day is very flexible. We only go into the office about once a week now, so a typical day starts with some video calls with the team to make sure we’re all on the same page and everyone has their marching orders. After that, we’re really trusted to get our work done on our own time. We have a team Discord channel, and we’re all usually checking in, asking questions, or just chatting on there throughout the day.

How would you describe Dart Frog’s culture?

Whatever the antonym of corporate is—it’s very relaxed. There’s a lot of collaboration and just general socializing that makes for a very fun environment to work in.

What’s an important trait for 3D artists to have?

You have to be resourceful. So many aspects of the job are just troubleshooting, so you have to be able to find solutions. Knowing where to look for answers, whether on the internet, through forums, or just by asking my coworkers, is a must.

What makes you consider a project a success?

Of course, it’s always a good feeling when the client is happy. When a project gets approved, especially a challenging one, there’s always a bit of satisfaction and reassurance that comes with that.

What is your favorite part of the job?

I love getting down to the really small details, like how light comes through a window. It’s something that people might overlook when they are looking at the finished product, but it’s all those little things that add up to make an eye-catching rendering or animation.

What inspires you?

Getting outside into nature always inspires me. I love getting away from the computer, disconnecting, and rejuvenating with fresh air.
